IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANYONE WHO WOULD IT BE?
My grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and she also had wonderful stories from a pretty remarkable life.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE TRIP YOU HAVE TAKEN?
After our teaching contracts ended in Spain, a friend and I spent 10 days popping around different cities in Europe. There were a lot of mishaps that challenged me in new ways. We also had a lot of fun, chaos aside. Certainly the most memorable trip that I still think of frequently.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL SATURDAY?
I enjoy going to my exercise class in the morning with my son and friends followed by getting breakfast all together. Then family time in the afternoon with my husband and possibly trying a new local restaurant for dinner.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO MOVE YOUR BODY?
I enjoy mainly being in group classes whether it’s yoga, palates, HIIT, or strength training. I’m currently focusing on healing my postpartum body with a group specific to moms (my son is usually serving as my weight)
HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE?
If they are good beans made well with a pour over method, I'll take it black; but if I'm at a big chain, a café latte will do

Emily Cox
LPCC 10965
Mary Emily Cox is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC10965) with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Emily possesses a strong foundation for listening intently to her clients, assisting them to understand and achieve their goals. She believes it is an honor to hold space for her clients, guiding them as they delve into their journey of self-exploration. As a Reiki Master Teacher, Emily is conscious of the mind/body/soul connection in which thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can contribute to self-destructive conduct. Finding solutions to promote a client’s growth is the key for future success and fulfillment.
Emily specializes in anxiety, depression, relational issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma, and working with LGBTQ+ clients. She uses approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Didactical Behavioral Therapy, Brief-Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Person-Centered Therapy, Integrative or Holistic Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. She understands that there can be a delicate balance between approaches which may overlap at times.
Emily creates a safe space for her clients and recognizes that therapy can be fearful at times. She believes by providing structure, stability, and support to those who may feel like the bottom is falling out, clients will raise self-esteem, feel empowered, and gain skills necessary to meet life’s challenges effectively. It is through the most challenging times that the greatest growth has an opportunity to evolve. While encouraging clients to establish a mindful movement, self-care routine as part of the healing process, Emily herself enjoys running, cycling, investing time with her two dogs and spouse, and meditation.
Emily has several years of mental health counseling experience, as well as 13 years of teaching elementary school-aged children. Her time spent in the school environment allowed her immeasurable insight into family dynamics which in-turn added a different perspective as a mental health therapist and working with children and families. She is able to examine family dynamics, child or parental challenges, and conflict resolution on a deeper level with her clients with a greater understanding in giving them the space to create their healing.
